A micro-credential recognizes a discrete skill of an educator that is related to his/her practice, based on evidence that demonstrates competency of that specific skill.
Micro-credentials are natural extensions of educators’ professional learning journeys. Educators engage in both formal and informal professional learning activities but are rarely recognized for their informal learning. Micro-credentials verify a skill in a specific topic area where K-12 educators present evidence of their ability to demonstrate competency in teaching or leading school improvement and receive timely feedback from trained reviewers.
Micro-credentials:
The Process
What is your why? What do you hope to learn from your micro-credential experience? What expertise do you intend to verify through this process? In addition to this eight-step micro-credential process, we recommend articulating your professional learning need or goal before you begin. As you navigate through the submission process, your need or goal will guide many decisions which must be made along the way.
